The Diamond Casino & Resort Heist is a new multiplayer addition to Grand Theft Auto Online — and one activity players have been eagerly awaiting. The Diamond Casino is one of the best new locations, and cracking this fancy area open with friends is a criminal’s dream. Now you can add another NPC to your crew; a returning friend from GTA4. Packie McReary, the foul-mouthed Irish thug that features in some of the biggest missions of GTA4 returns in GTAO, and you can unlock him for the Diamond Casino Heist.
Chef, Packie, or Gustavo Mota; With this heist, you are only given the choice of taking along one additional gunman. Taking Chef along is the best option as you can build up his experience and the amount of cash he takes is tied with Packie. You could take Gustavo Mota along as the most expensive gunman, but don't take anyone else. If you don’t remember Packie, just think back to GTA4. One of the best missions of the game is a bank job gone wrong. Nico, the protagonist, joins a crew of Packie McReary’s brothers as they blast through police barricades and escape the city on-foot. It’s a completely crazy mission, and Packie becomes one of Nico’s closest criminal pals in Liberty City. Now he’s on a vacation to the west coast, and you can grab him for the Diamond Casino Heist. Here’s how it works.

Patrick McReary, Nico Bellic’s old friend from GTA4 is a hidden crewmember you can unlock in GTAO for the Diamond Casino Heist. If you can rescue him, you’ll be able to hire him as an optional NPC heist accomplice — and it’s just nice seeing his ugly mug again.
How To Recruit McReary: You’ll need to encounter a special random overworld event — you’ll see a blue dot on the minimap. Chase the police van and kill the driver, but don’t kill anyone else inside. After freeing Patrick, you’ll need to evade the cops and return to a safehouse. If you manage to rescue Patrick, he’ll be available to join your Diamond Casino Heist crew, and you’ll earn $10,000.
You can find this event in many different locations around Los Santos — usually between 12:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Here’s a quick list of locations he’s been spotted so far.
- Outside the main entrance to Fort Zancudo
- You Tool Hardware Store in Blaine County
- Route 68 Clubhouse
- Route 68 Ammunation
- Highway off the Diamond Casino
- Near Integrity Way Apartment
You’ll unlock the ‘Gunman‘ and ‘All Crewed Up‘ achievement / trophy for saving Packie, and for collecting all the crew members for the Diamond Casino Heist.
Packie is completely optional, but he does have a whole lot to say. He shares plenty of information, and it’s nice just seeing this old character return. This is proof he survived the events of GTA4,

Casino Scoping
Start by identifying the access points and the important elements of the Casino.
During your scope, you'll take pictures for Lester.
Tip: On your first mission, Lester will let you know when all important access points / items have been spotted and stop the count.
Access Points to the Diamond Casino
- Main Door – located the front of the Casino
- Side Doors – take pictures each door keypad, there’s one on the back and one on the left side
- Roof Terrace – four keypads, one just before the pool (on the left side), one behind the bar (down the stairs), two around the back.
- Security Tunnel – garage door located in the tunnel under the racetrack at the back of the Casino
- Roof – two keypads on doors on each side of the helipad
- Sewer Tunnel – near the river past the racetrack, across the street from the casino, you'll find the entrance to the sewer tunnel. Get inside and you'll find a gate on your right.
Main points of interest
- Security Guard – standing next to the elevator by the front desk
- Keypad – on the casino floor, next to restricted access doors
- 1st Security Camera – on the ceiling of the main casino rooms
- 2nd Security Camera – on the roof and roof terrace
- Valet – outside by the Casino front door
- Vault Blueprints – (required VIP membership) on the desk in the management office, accessible by going through the Inside Track room, and into a door down the side hallway.
Yung Ancestor
You can also unlock the Big Con approach via Yung Ancestor by going to the Diamond Terrace, a cutscene will trigger and he will contact you afterward. This is also how you will unlock the reduced rate on the Grotti Furia which is his personal vehicle that he will offer you to use as an escape vehicle.

- Staff elevator – In the purple diamond casino room, pan to the two elevators on the right
- Blue door – In the corridor with the elevator and blue door, pan to the door on the left

Approach selection
After discovering the contents of the vault, you will be able to choose one of three approaches to the heist: Silent & Sneaky, The Big Con, or Aggressive.
The Silent & Sneaky approach will allow you to enter the casino and get rid of the guards with complete discretion, as long as you stay on and don't make yourself heard by the other guards.
The Big Con approach will use disguises that allow you to break into the Casino, but not all guards will be fooled.
The Aggressive approach will be the most violent, equipped with heavy weapons you will kill the guards without states of heart to arrive at the vault.
The approaches have three possible statuses:
- Without post-it: Heist is available on normal difficulty
- Post-it padlock: The heist is unavailable because you have just completed this approach
- Skull Post-it: The heist is available in hard (possible after completing the heist approach, then another approach to remove the Skull Post-it), this approach provides higher gains due to its difficulty.
Tips !
Once the three approaches are completed, you will be able to unlock the ability to phone Lester and cancel the heist to change the contents of the vault, you will lose the $ 25,000 in initial costs by canceling the heist.

To unlock Packie you must participate in a random event available in free mode. It triggers in a session with at least 2 players in total.You will hear police sirens and a blue dot will appear on the map, this is a police van that will have to be stolen to unlock Packie :

Tips and tricks
- Enter through the arcade room garage to get to the heist preparation room more quickly.
- If you don't like the content of the vault and if you have completed all the 3 approaches, you can call Lester and cancel the heist to change the content of the vault. You will lose the $25,000 initial fees by canceling the heist.
- It is possible to tune the getaway vehicles once the recovery mission is completed. Enter the vehicle in the basement of the arcade room to tune it.
- During the heist you can also grab some extra cash from the secret vault, which is on the ground floor right next to the elevator. The switch to open up the secret vault door is in the CCTV room next to the elevator. You can expect somewhere between $20,000 to $100,000 to be in there.
You can grab this vault content twice during the Silent & Sneaky approach, once on your way to the main vault and once on your way back up to the exit.
