Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack has applied for a Pennsylvania online gambling license to operate online slots, online table games, and online poker.

It is one of nine PA casino license holders that applied for the license. Each did so just ahead of the state’s the July 16, 2018 deadline to apply to operate all three forms of online gambling in the state at a reduced cost of $10 million.

It could have waited until after the deadline to apply for individual licenses for the three different types of online gambling. These come at a cost of $4 million each. Since it did not, Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is likely interested in all three.

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is the only applicant whose parent company, Caesars Entertainment, already has a hand in all three different types of online gambling in the US.

Caesars Interactive Entertainment US online gambling sites

CasinoHarrah

In fact, Caesars Entertainment runs an online poker site in Nevada and various online poker and casino sites in New Jersey, including a casino site under the Harrah’s banner.

HarrahsCasino.com operates under the Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey internet gaming license. It does so alongside various other online casino and online poker sites, including:

  • CaesarsCasino.com
  • The World Series of Poker-branded online poker site WSOP.com
  • 888poker.com
  • 888casino.com

Powered by 888 software

Most of the sites us software provided by popular Gibraltar-based online gaming operator and platform provider 888 Holdings.

HarrahsCasino.com uses 888’s Dragonfish online casino software platform, which offers both mobile and browser-based interfaces. Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is likely to use the same software platform for its online slots and online table games operations.

However, CaesarsCasino.com switched over to the NYX Open Platform System in 2016, vastly improving the number of games it offers. Therefore, Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is just as likely to launch online slots and table games operations using the NYX platform. Particularly considering it will be Caesars Interactive Entertainment’s flagship PA online casino site.

Although, the 888 platform has also added new online casino content from both NYX and NetEnt, making its offering more robust and attractive as well.

Either way, players will likely see most traditional online table games and a wide variety of different online slots featured on the Harrah’s Philadelphia online casino site. However, none of it will likely be thought of as out of the box.

It’s also worth noting Caesars Entertainment online gambling sites in New Jersey allow players to convert loyalty club points into Caesars’ industry-leading Total Rewards program. Therefore, the same should be expected from Harrah’s Philadelphia. Total Rewards points can be earned and redeemed at more than 40 Caesars properties around the globe.

Harrah’s Philadelphia and online poker

Things are much easier to envision when it comes to Harrah’s Philadelphia and online poker.

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is home to a World Series of Poker-branded poker room. Therefore, it will likely host a WSOP-branded PA online poker room as well.

Harrah

The WSOP sites in Nevada and New Jersey now share player pools with 888-powered sites in Delaware, and each other, thanks to an interstate online gaming agreement signed by those three states. Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack will likely launch a PA WSOP-branded online poker site and eagerly anticipate Pennsylvania joining that agreement. It will ultimately give Caesars Interactive Entertainment the largest legal and regulated online poker network in the US.

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack

Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack is in the Philadelphia suburb of Chester. It sits on the bank of the Delaware River.

The property opened as a racetrack called Harrah’s Chester in 2006. It opened a 100,000-square-foot casino with slot machines in 2007. The casino added table games in 2010.

There are now more than 2,450 slots, 90 table games, and a 28-table poker room on the property. The 5/8-mile limestone racetrack also hosts close to 150 harness racing days every year.

Harrah’s Chester became Harrah’s Philadelphia in 2012 to appeal to the broader customer base in Philadelphia.

It sits fifth of 12 on the list of the state’s highest-grossing casinos. The property generates close to $21 million per month in revenue, mostly from slots.

Harrah's Total Rewards

In fiscal 2016-17 Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack generated approximately $265 million in revenue.
